The quick answer
Krabi food is southern Thai: hot curries like gaeng tai pla and gaeng som, dry-fried kua kling, khanom jeen noodles for breakfast and khao yam rice salad. A large Muslim community adds roti, khao mok gai (chicken biryani) and massaman curry, and the Andaman Sea supplies crab, prawns and whole fish.
The cheapest and most local food is in Krabi Town: the Maharaj morning market, the Chao Fah pier market every evening and the Walking Street on Friday to Sunday nights. Ao Nang has seafood at Nopparat Thara and sunset dinners on the hillside but higher prices. On Railay and Phi Phi most food arrives by boat and costs more. Koh Lanta's Old Town has small seafood restaurants over the water.
