Thai-Muslim cooking is one of Bangkok's best food traditions. Here is what to order and where it is halal.

The quick answer

Bangkok has a large Thai-Muslim community, so halal food is easy to find once you know where to look: Bang Rak around Haroon Mosque, Sukhumvit Soi 3/1 (Soi Arab) near BTS Nana, Ramkhamhaeng and Huai Khwang.

Start with khao mok gai (Thai chicken biryani), roti mataba and massaman curry. For a sit-down dinner, Mama Yaya does deep-south Thai-Muslim food and Indus is a certified halal Indian restaurant; both are in the Michelin Guide.

We only list places that a guide or certifier describes as halal. Always look for the green halal logo before you order.
