Night Markets in Thailand

Where to go in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Pattaya and Krabi, which days each market runs, and what to eat there.

Updated October 2026 · 8 foods · 16 places

The quick answer

Night markets are one of the easiest and cheapest ways to eat well in Thailand. Most open around 16:00–17:00 and run until 22:00–midnight, and a few Bangkok markets stay open until about 01:00. Some run every night, while others, like Chiang Mai's and Phuket Town's walking streets, happen on one evening a week.

This guide covers 16 markets we could confirm are operating in 2026 in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Pattaya and Krabi. Several have changed recently: Jodd Fairs moved from Rama 9 to Ratchada, the Train Night Market Ratchada reopened in March 2026, and Talad Neon near Pratunam is listed as permanently closed.

Hours come from recent guides and can change on public holidays, Buddhist holy days and rainy nights. If you are travelling just for one market, check its Facebook page or Google Maps listing on the day.

16 night markets by city

Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Pattaya and Krabi, with the days each market runs.

Jodd Fairs Ratchada

Bangkok · Ratchadaphisek Rd, Din Daeng – MRT Thailand Cultural Centre (Exit 4)

Hundreds of food stalls in one place. The market moved here from its original Rama 9 site in 2025.

What to eat
Grilled seafood, moo ping, som tam and mango sticky rice. Expect queues at the popular stalls.
Tip
Open: Daily ~17:00–01:00. Older guides still list the Rama 9 address, which has closed. Go to Ratchada, a 2-minute walk from MRT Exit 4.

Train Night Market Ratchada (Talad Rot Fai Ratchada)

Bangkok · Behind Esplanade Ratchadaphisek – MRT Thailand Cultural Centre (Exit 3)

The well-known Ratchada market reopened on its original plot on 27 March 2026, after The One Ratchada closed there in May 2025.

What to eat
Grilled seafood, moo ping, som tam, pad thai, mango sticky rice, plus mala and hot pot stalls.
Tip
Open: ~17:00–01:00 (most sources say daily, some say Tue–Sun). Check the market's Facebook page before a Monday visit. It is a short walk from Jodd Fairs, so you can visit both in one evening.

Talad Rot Fai Srinakarin

Bangkok · Srinakarin Rd, Prawet (behind Seacon Square) – MRT Yellow Line Suan Luang Rama 9 + 10 min walk

The original train market, with vintage stalls, beer bars and live music.

What to eat
Moo kata (table-top barbecue) and seafood grilled on portable grills at your table.
Tip
Open: Thu–Sun ~17:00–01:00. It is far from central Bangkok. A Grab costs roughly 300–500 ฿ each way, so the Yellow Line is cheaper. Many stalls open late, so go after 19:00.

Yaowarat (Chinatown) street food

Bangkok · Yaowarat Rd – MRT Wat Mangkon

Not a single market but a street where carts and shophouse kitchens serve food every evening.

What to eat
Grilled seafood at T&K Seafood (4pm–midnight), guay jab (peppery rolled-noodle soup) at Guay Jab Ouan Pochana, grilled squid and mango sticky rice from the carts.
Price
Seafood 150–400 ฿ at T&K; guay jab 60–80 ฿; grilled squid 40–60 ฿
Tip
Open: Evenings, best after 18:00, busiest ~19:00–20:00; many stalls close Mondays. Bring 20 and 50 ฿ notes. The main strip quietens after 22:00, but side sois such as Soi Texas keep serving seafood until midnight.

Sunday Walking Street (Tha Phae Gate – Ratchadamnoen Rd)

Chiang Mai · Ratchadamnoen Rd, Old City – Tha Phae Gate to Wat Phra Singh (~1.1 km)

Every Sunday the main road through the Old City closes to traffic and fills with craft and food stalls.

What to eat
Khao soi, sai oua (northern sausage), mango sticky rice, coconut pancakes; temple-courtyard food courts at Wat Phan On and Wat Pan Tao.
Price
Most dishes 30–70 ฿; khao soi ~50–70 ฿; sai oua from ~40 ฿
Tip
Open: Sun ~16:00–22:00/23:00. Arrive around 16:30–17:00, before the 18:00–20:00 peak. Bring cash, because ATM queues at Tha Phae Gate get long. At 18:00 the national anthem plays and everyone stands still for about 90 seconds.

Wualai Saturday Walking Street

Chiang Mai · Wualai Rd, south of Chiang Mai Gate (silversmith quarter)

A Saturday street market in the silversmiths' quarter, quieter than the Sunday market.

What to eat
Grilled skewers, sai oua, khao soi, sticky rice and sweets; sit-down food in the courtyards of Wat Sri Suphan and Wat Muen San.
Price
Most dishes 30–70 ฿

What to eat
Grilled seafood picked by weight, pad thai, som tam, khao soi.
Price
Anusarn seafood-court plates mostly 80–180 ฿ (10% service charge at central stage tables)
Tip
Open: Daily ~17:00–24:00. Food prices are fixed, but souvenir prices vary a lot between stalls, so compare before you buy.

Chiang Mai Gate Market (Talat Pratu Chiang Mai)

Chiang Mai · Bumrung Buri Rd, at Chiang Mai Gate (south moat)

A local food market that runs in the morning and again at night, mainly for food rather than shopping.

What to eat
Khao kha mu (stewed pork leg on rice), khao soi, curry over rice, grilled chicken with sticky rice.
Price
Khao kha mu 50–60 ฿; khao soi 40–60 ฿; curry rice 40–50 ฿
Tip
Open: Daily ~04:00–10:00 and ~18:00–24:00. On Saturdays, eat here before or after the Wualai market, which starts just south of the gate.

Phuket Town Sunday Walking Street (Lard Yai)

Phuket · Thalang Rd, Phuket Old Town

Each Sunday evening, Thalang Road's restored Sino-Portuguese shophouses become a pedestrian food street.

What to eat
Southern Thai street food: grilled skewers, noodle dishes, regional desserts, fresh fruit.
Tip
Open: Sun ~16:00–22:00. Arrive close to 16:00 for shorter queues, because the street is full by 18:00. Show your driver the Thai name ถนนคนเดินหลาดใหญ่.

Chillva Market

Phuket · 141/2 Yaowarat Rd, Phuket Town (~10 min drive north of Old Town)

A night market built from shipping containers, with flea-market and fashion stalls Thursday to Saturday.

What to eat
Grilled seafood, pad thai, moo ping, mango sticky rice, bubble tea and desserts.
Tip

Naka Weekend Market

Phuket · Wirat Hong Yok Rd near Wat Naka, ~3 km south of Phuket Town

A large weekend market for clothes and souvenirs, with live music on stage at 19:00.

What to eat
Grilled seafood (prawns, fish, lobster), tropical fruit, mango sticky rice, banana pancakes.
Tip
Open: Sat–Sun ~16:00–22:00. Bargain for clothes and souvenirs but not for food. Traffic jams after dark, so parking on the roadside is easier than the main lot.

Banzaan Market

Phuket · Sai Kor Rd, Patong – behind Jungceylon mall

Patong's fresh market, where you can buy seafood downstairs and have it cooked at the food court upstairs.

What to eat
Pick prawns, squid, fish or lobster and have them grilled, steamed or cooked in a Thai sauce.
Tip
Open: Daily ~06:00–24:00 (evening food carts outside). Ask the price per kilo and the cooking fee before you order. Come in the morning for the best choice of fruit and seafood.

Thepprasit Night Market

Pattaya · Thepprasit Rd near Sukhumvit junction, south Pattaya (towards Jomtien)

Pattaya's largest weekend night market. On weekdays a smaller version runs.

Jomtien Night Market

Pattaya · Kwan Mueang Rd, Jomtien (beach across the road)

A smaller food market open every night, with communal tables and a children's playground.

What to eat
Thai grills and seafood, fresh fruit smoothies (also Indian, Mexican and burgers).

What to eat
Khanom jeen (rice noodles with curry), grilled fish and squid, roti, southern-style fried chicken.
Tip
Open: Weekends from ~17:00 (Fri–Sat; some guides add Sun). Busiest around 19:30–22:00. Beer is not sold in the market itself. Seating is limited and shared.

Ao Nang Night Market (Ao Nang Landmark)

Krabi · Ao Nang beach road, Landmark complex near the 7-Eleven at the north end

A beachside market a minute's walk from the sand, open every night.

What to eat
Grilled prawns, squid and whole fish, pad thai, fried rice, mango sticky rice, fruit shakes.
Price
Most dishes 60–150 ฿
Tip
Open: Daily ~16:00–23:00 (fills up after 18:00). Bring cash, because most vendors don't take cards. From Krabi Town, a songthaew takes 20–30 minutes.
